CyberKnife Treatment
CyberKnife Treatment is a non-invasive form of highly precise radiation therapy that uses a robotic radiation system to deliver focused radiation to a tumour or other abnormal tissue. Despite its name, it does not involve a surgical knife or an incision.

Overview
1. What is CyberKnife Treatment?
CyberKnife is a form of Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) or stereotactic radiosurgery used to deliver precisely targeted radiation from multiple directions while limiting radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.
2. When is it Recommended?
It may be considered for selected brain tumours, spinal tumours, lung tumours, prostate cancer, liver tumours and certain recurrent or metastatic cancers, depending on tumour size, location and previous treatment.
3. What Symptoms May a Patient Notice?
Symptoms depend on the tumour location. They may include headaches, pain, weakness, seizures, breathing problems, urinary symptoms or other organ-specific symptoms. Some tumours may cause no symptoms and be detected through imaging.
4. What Does the Treatment Involve?
The treatment team uses detailed imaging to locate the target. The CyberKnife system then delivers multiple highly focused radiation beams to the target from different angles. The system can adjust radiation delivery based on patient or tumour movement.
5. What Are the Main Treatment Options?
Depending on the diagnosis, alternatives may include conventional radiation therapy, surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery, chemotherapy, targeted therapy or other cancer treatments. CyberKnife is selected only when it is clinically appropriate.
6. How Long Does Treatment & Recovery Take?
CyberKnife is generally performed as an outpatient treatment. Depending on the condition and treatment plan, patients may require 1–5 sessions, although some protocols involve more sessions. Each session may take approximately 30–90 minutes, and many patients can return home the same day.
7. What Are the Important Risks or Considerations?
CyberKnife provides highly precise radiation delivery and is an established treatment for selected tumours. Published studies have demonstrated high rates of local tumour control in appropriately selected patients, although outcomes vary according to tumour type, size and location. Side effects depend on the treated area and may include fatigue, swelling, pain or inflammation.
8. Why Consider Treatment in India?
India has specialised radiation oncology centres equipped with advanced stereotactic radiation technologies, including robotic radiosurgery systems, supported by radiation oncologists, medical physicists and specialised treatment teams.
9. How Can Medavelle Help?
Medavelle can assist with medical report and imaging review, radiation oncologist coordination, CyberKnife suitability assessment, hospital selection, treatment planning, international patient arrangements and follow-up coordination.
10. What Should the Patient Do Next?
